BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Park the working vehicle close enough for your jumper cables to reach.
Make sure the working battery has a higher voltage than the dead battery.
Park and completely turn off both vehicles.
Gain access to your battery terminals.
CONNECTING THE JUMPER CABLES
After this is finished, connect the negative jumper cables. When connecting the negative jumper cables there are two options.
Connect the black ( - ) jumper cable from the working battery's negative terminal to the dead battery's negative terminal.
OPTION 2
Connect the black ( - ) jumper cable from the working battery's negative terminal to an unpainted piece of metal or ground on the dead vehicle.
Option one is the preferred method. However, both options will work. Use option two if there is no negative terminal access or your battery requires a ground connection.
STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
Once your car starts, you may disconnect the jumper cables. Remove the jumper cables in the reverse order, starting with the black ( - ) clamps. Do not touch them together or to any metal surfaces,
If your battery still won't start it may be a sign of other issues. Common problems related to vehicles not starting include: Fuses, alternator, ignition, or starter. Many auto mechanics should be able to properly diagnose the problem.
