PDR is a great alternative to conventional repair on many different types of dents. Most commonly it is used for hail damage and door dings. The first step in PDR is getting access to behind the spot where the dent is located. Once access is gained the tech will put a bright light on the dent in order to get the best view of it. They will then push the dent out with PDR tools. These tools are small rods with different sized hooks on the end designed to help get the correct angle to remove the dent. The metal is then pushed back to the original shape. Lastly, any panel that was removed to gain access to the dent is re-installed and the vehicle is ready to go. This process can take a short amount of time or sometimes several hours. Conventional repair would normally take 2-3 days for the repair to be completed, the panel to be painted and allowed to dry and then the panel to be re-installed!
